In May 2003, a new blogging tool quietly entered the scene. Its name was WordPress. Fast forward 22 years, and WordPress has become the backbone of the internet, powering over 43% of all websites globally. From humble beginnings to an industry-defining CMS, WordPress’s growth is not just impressive, it’s foundational to how many businesses thrive today.
For us at Seahawk, WordPress isn’t just a platform, it’s the very core of who we are. As WordPress evolved, so did we. Today, as the world celebrates 22 years of open-source innovation, we’re reflecting on how far WordPress has come, and how it’s fueled Seahawk’s journey from what was once a startup to a global WordPress agency trusted by thousands.
A Shared Mission
One of the most powerful aspects of WordPress is its open-source DNA. It was built to democratize publishing, making it easier for anyone, anywhere to have a voice online. That mission deeply aligns with our own vision at Seahawk which is making premium website solutions accessible to businesses of all sizes.
From day one, we saw the potential in WordPress not just as a CMS, but as an ecosystem. Its flexibility, scalability, and vibrant global community made it the perfect foundation for us to build custom solutions for startups, agencies, enterprises, and hosting companies alike.
Growing Alongside the Platform
When we launched, our goal was simple: deliver world-class web services, fast, scalable, and affordable. WordPress made that possible. Whether it was through page builders, WooCommerce, REST API integrations, or SEO plugins, WordPress empowered us to offer robust digital services without reinventing the wheel.
Over the years, as WordPress introduced features like the Gutenberg block editor, full site editing, and performance improvements, Seahawk adapted quickly. We didn’t just use the tools, we optimized, extended, and innovated with them.
In fact, some of our proudest milestones, white-label partnerships with major web hosts, building a global WordPress support model, and launching our signature services like hacked site repair and website migration, were made possible thanks to WordPress’s extensibility.

Build on the Legacy of WordPress
Whether you need a single site or bulk web solutions at scale, we’ve got the tools, the team, and 22 years of innovation behind us.
Bulk Website Builds Done Right
One of the most exciting frontiers for us has been bulk website creation. Powered by WordPress Multisite, smart workflows, and custom dev stacks, we now help hosts, SaaS platforms, and enterprise partners launch hundreds even thousands of websites quickly and efficiently.
As Blair Williams, founder of MemberPress, mentioned in our recent WP Legends interview (EP4), the industry is changing rapidly, especially with AI coming into play. But through all that change, WordPress remains the most powerful, scalable, and community-driven CMS in the world.
And that’s what allows us to confidently say, when someone asks us what we do: “We make websites. In bulk. For a lot of people. All over the world.”

Looking Ahead: Innovation, AI & the Next Chapter
The future of web development is being rewritten in real time, with AI tools, automation, and headless architecture reshaping what’s possible. At Seahawk, we’re not just watching those trends, we’re building with them.
But no matter how far tech advances, WordPress remains our foundation. Its commitment to community, constant improvement, and open access is what keeps it relevant, even 22 years in. And for us, it’s the platform we trust to take our clients, and our agency, into the future.
Thank You, WordPress, and Happy 22nd!

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to thank the global WordPress community, developers, contributors, designers, marketers, and creators, who make it all possible.
At Seahawk, we’re proud to be a part of that journey. And as WordPress enters its next chapter, we’ll be right there alongside it, pushing boundaries, building better websites, and helping brands thrive online.
Here’s to 22 years of WordPress. And many more to come. 🎉
