How To Make A Blog With WordPress?

Creating your web presence through a blog is not only simple but a fun and rewarding experience too. So, if you’ve decided to start a blog, congratulations! Blogging can bring a ton of great traffic to your website – it can help you share your views with your readers and raise awareness about your business and brand and it’s surprisingly easy to start a blog nowadays using WordPress. Today we are going to walk you through the process of setting up a WordPress blog in a few easy steps.

Step 1 – Choosing a domain name

The first thing that you need to do is come up with a unique domain name that you would like to use. A simple way to understand what a domain name is that it’s a permanent address where your website is located. For instance, seahawkmedia.com, godaddy.com, and wordpress.org are all examples of domain names. Usually, bloggers choose their business names or their personal name as a domain name, depending upon whether their blog is serving an official purpose or a personal one. You can do some research and choose a domain name that is available and aligns best with the intended purpose. Once you’ve determined the domain name, you need to make sure that it’s available for purchase and then proceed with the hosting.

Step 2 – Find a host for your blog

GoDaddy and DreamHost are popular domain hosting service providers that also facilitate the purchasing of domain names. Now, let’s understand what a host exactly is. A web host is basically what powers your site behind the scenes. What you do with hosting is essentially rent space on the host server so instead of hosting your website on your personal hard drive, it lives on a host server. A host stores your website information on its server and lets people see it when you decide to make your site live. GoDaddy and DreamHost are great resources that serve these purposes most effectively.

Step 3 – Sign up with WordPress

So, now that you have your domain and hosting on spot, you can move on to the third step – install WordPress. With GoDaddy, this gets super easy because there’s an integration available specifically for WordPress and GoDaddy. All you need to do once you’re logged in to your GoDaddy account is, just go over to web hosting, then click on manage and then move onto popular apps. You will see a WordPress pop up there. You need to simply click on install and follow a couple of simple instructions after which WordPress will send you an email whenever your website is ready to use.

Step 4 – Customize your site

Now that you have WordPress installed, you can go on and select a theme to customize your blog. The visual appearance of your WordPress blog is controlled by the theme that you use. Customizing the look and feel of your blog can be an exciting as well as a rewarding part in the journey of creating your WordPress site. You can also choose from a variety of pre-made themes available in WordPress or go ahead and work with a team like Seahawk Media to develop a custom blog theme for you.

Now that your theme is finalized, you can go ahead and install plugins to further customize your site. WordPress plugins are apps that allow you to add new features to your site. From SEO plugins that can help you reach the top of search engine rankings to plugins that can help you add a contact form to your blog, you can choose from thousands of different WordPress plugins.

Step 5 – Start writing

Now that your themes and plugins are all sorted, you can write your first post. Just go over to the post menu in your WordPress dashboard and start writing. Once, you’re done writing, just go ahead and click on the Publish button on the right to publish your first blog post for the world to see.
