G Suite Vs. Office 365

G Suite vs. Office 365

Which email solution to choose? The puzzle question that most entrepreneurs ask themselves to organize their work process.

Today, having a professional email address containing the name of your company is a necessity. Did you know a professional email hosting service will help you improve your productivity in the office, on the road, and everywhere else? And not just for you, but also for your employees, partners, collaborators, and even your company. It reinforces credibility, professionalism, and reliability for your brand image.

However, there are some questions you should ask yourself before deciding between Office 365 and G Suite to identify which one is best for your business.

  • Does your business need more professional messaging with more security, privacy, and business features?
  • Is the size of your current mailbox suitable for your business needs?
  • Who do you call when you have problems or when your voicemail is not working? Is this person reliable?
  • Do you receive a lot of spam?
  • Are you worried about malware and viruses?

G Suite & Office 365 are both famous players in the world of office suites, but how do they differ from each other, and which one is better to choose?

From trying to create an amazing team calendar to offering the most intuitive and powerful tools, both feature-filled suites are vying for top dog positions. The different organizations have different needs; therefore, businesses need to conduct extensive analysis & research before making a decision.

This blog will compare both G Suite and Office 365 to make your decision-making process efficient and easy.

Office Suite History-

As per Statista reports, in October 2020, G Suite, being the market leader, holds a share of 59.41 percent in the office suite market, and Microsoft Office 365 occupying 40.39 percent.

In the 90s and early 20s, Microsoft Office was the sole ruler of the enterprise tech industry. Then Google came up with its docs and sheets, making it an attractive alternative for SMEs and large businesses. It became popular as G Suite and then Google Workspace in 2020.

G Suite’s set of intelligent & collaborative tools have proved themselves as a real dilemma to Microsoft’s productivity suite, which has now been renamed as Microsoft 365.

Similarities Between G Suite and Microsoft 365-

Both G Suite and Office 365 are excellent productivity suites that come with impressive features that can help your team by making collaboration and the time management process more accessible. They are both valuable suites that can help your team to perform their tasks at their best.

These two suites are suitable for a range of devices. Google workspace is web-based, but it also offers offline support. Microsoft 365 is a desktop-based software that means all office applications can only be installed on the user’s computer, but its application also has web-based versions.

Google Workspace supports well in most browsers on any operating system. Still, its apps are built specifically for Android, iPhone, and iPad devices to provide a seamless experience to its customers. Microsoft 365’s web-based apps work virtually across browsers and provide office client apps for iOS, macOS, Windows, and Android. Both offer the same basic core applications with associate cloud storage.

G Suite vs. Microsoft 365: A step-by-step comparison

There are some areas where both of these two are apart from each other. Read on as we compare one against the other to help you choose what’s best for your business or personal use.

Let’s dive in!

Pricing

G Suite & Workspace 365 both suites are subscription-based models, offering various plans and prices for different needs of businesses. However, both suites provide several web-based apps for free to their users to leverage few primary benefits.

Note: A business environment requires a paid subscription for advanced security & management features.

G Suite offers four simple pricing options:

  • Basic – $5 per user per month
  • Business – $10 per user per month
  • Business Plus- $18 per user per month
  • Enterprise – $25 per user per month.

Office 365 comes with four different pricing plans for all sizes of businesses:

  • Business Essentials – $5 per month per user
  • Business – $10 per month per user
  • Business Premium – $15 per user/ month
  • Enterprise E1 – $8 per user/ month
  • Enterprise E3 – $20 per user/ month
  • Enterprise E5 – $35 per user/ month
  • Enterprise ProPlus – $12 per user/ month

Security & Management Tools

Choosing the right tools to manage your team and enhance productivity is an essential part of project management, and both office suites are no exceptions. Management and Security both are critical aspects.

Both G Suite & Office 365 come up well on security features, protecting your data with enterprise-grade security. Furthermore, they offer a central security center for managing user permissions and protections. Office 365 offers superior mobile administration, more management controls, and better admin account security, whereas G Suite provides good management services for organizations with no strict compliance requirements.

Winner: Tie

Ease of use

When assessing these two solutions, most people found G Suite easier to use & set up. Though, choosing one over the other will depend on your personal preferences and work process.

If you prefer to work with office tools, Office 365 might be the right tool to choose. Each of its applications integrates seamlessly with one other, primarily if you will be relying on Desktop. However, their feature-rich nature can take some time for beginners.

In contrast, G Suite’s interface is very intuitive and extremely easy to use. G Suite’s simplicity makes the platform better from a usability outlook. It’s also designed for cloud-based collaboration, which means it’s likely to be easier to use if your team members work remotely.

Winner: G Suite

File Sharing & Cloud Storage

Both suites offer rich amounts of storage. You just need to be sure that you have chosen the right pricing plans that provide a sufficient amount of storage for your needs.

G Suite offers Google Drive, making it super easy to share files with others. You can share by email, allowing others to view or edit a file and even allow others to download them.

On the other hand, Office 365 offers OneDrive, allowing you to share files easily and quickly.

Winner: Tie

Email

G Suite Gmail has a high-quality user-intuitive interface that helps you to work fast and more smartly. Its AI-driven option gives suggestions when you type & a reminder feature for a forgotten message.

Office 365’s OneDrive offers a high-quality email solution with a clean-up function that simplifies long email threads. It has an integrated calendar and contact function but a less simple interface compared to G Suite.

Winner: G Suite

Word Processing

Google Docs and Microsoft Word both have excellent word processing, but businesses tend to have preferences base on their priorities & requirements.

If your priority is seamless collaboration, then Google Docs is the ideal one that you should choose. In contrast, Word is considered to have more excellent document creation and editing features, including various chart types, & styles, and templates.

G Suite vs. Office 365: Which one is better?

Choosing the right office suite for your needs can dramatically increase your team’s productivity and makes collaboration easy. Nowadays, working remotely, exchanging files, and communicating through chat and video conferencing applications is essential. G Suite and Office 365 both offer a high-quality selection of apps that will help you improve your team’s productivity at its best, but there are some fundamental differences.

However, G Suite is our winner as it offers Meet (integrated with Google chat) for group video calls and is more geared toward working together on documents.
